Our service

If you are over 60 and need help to live on your own, you can apply for Independent Living. We may consider applicants over the age of 55 for 1st floor un-lifted properties.

Independent Living Schemes are a warm and welcoming community. All accommodation is self-contained with the reassurance of an experienced Specialist Support Officer on hand to offer help, support, and advice.

Emergency assistance is provided if and when needed.

We have several Independent Living Schemes, two of which are Extra Care, providing daily support to older people, and in some cases younger disabled people to live independently.

The level of independence is up to you. You can choose the level of contact with your Specialist Support Officer and how much contact you have in the scheme.

Independent Living Schemes are made up of various flats and bungalows. Although unfurnished, they are fully equipped with an emergency alarm system so you have peace of mind that help is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The eligibility for Independent Living is:

• A live Housing application
• Over the age of 60 or 55 for first floor un-lifted
• An identified support need, which can be delivered by the Specialist Support Services team.
• Willingness to engage with the service. This includes regular contact with specialist support officers and taking part in the support planning process. We complete this annually (or sooner if your circumstances change) to capture your support needs and how our service can support you.

There are two charges for independent Living, the rent covers the cost of your bungalow or flat and the support charge which covers the support provided by the team including the 24/7 emergency response service.

There is no opting out of the support service or support charge if you live in our Independent Living accommodation.

You will need to complete an application for housing.
