Extra Care Schemes

Both Silkin Court (Poplars) and Fred Millard Court (Bedwell) are made up of groups of flats and bungalows. Adding to the friendly environment, both schemes also offer a resident lounge.

Applying for Extra Care

To move into Extra Care, you will need to complete an application for housing and meet the following requirements:

  • You must require assistance with your care and/or daily living tasks.
  • You must be an older person who will benefit from Extra Care - a place may be offered to a younger person on disability grounds in exceptional cases.
  • You will need to have an independent living and care assessment to ensure we can meet your care and support needs.

If you have registered for housing and are interested in Extra Care, please complete the online referral form.

Please note: There is a waiting list for Extra Care and a panel meeting is held each month to discuss current applicants. Properties are then allocated by matching care and support needs and the suitability of the property.

  • Door entry system for added security
  • Guest rooms for when your friends or family come to stay
  • Specially adapted communal bathroom
  • Laundry room
  • Communal kitchen
  • Communal gardens with a sun terrace- landscaped
  • Regular social activities
  • Residents' car park.

At Silkin Court, we have a short-stay unit. You can come and stay to see if you like living in Extra Care before you decide to move. There is a small daily charge for this, please contact us for further information.

As part of our assessment process, we may recommend that you come to the short-stay unit to make sure that we can meet your needs.
