Lift Safety Policy

As a landlord, Stevenage Borough Council is responsible for maintaining and repairing the homes, communal areas and properties it owns and manages, including lifts and other lifting equipment.

We ensure lifts are maintained and regularly inspected to keep them safe and compliant. This policy sets out our legal and regulatory responsibilities and provides a clear framework for staff and contractors to follow.

The policy supports our wider commitment to health and safety and helps ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Regulator of Social Housing Consumer Standards.
