  1. The council own the property to which this licence refers and shall have reasonable access to it when required.
  2. The garage is licenced to you in reasonable order - you are responsible for keeping it in that condition and we expect you to repair any damage caused by you, or those you are responsible for. If we must make good this damage, you will be liable for the cost of the works.
  3. You are responsible for reporting any repairs for the garage to the council as soon as possible to enable repair works to be carried out
  4. Consider your neighbours and all other users of the site when using your garage; do not cause unreasonable nuisance, annoyance, discomfort or inconvenience to the occupants of any neighbouring premises
  5. This licence covers the use of the garage only, and may not allow for parking in any area in front or around the garage or site; doing so could result in a parking ticket and fine.
  6. The garage is licenced to you at the rate overleaf which is reviewed on a regular basis and the council will give you at least one week's notice in writing if the charge changes
  7. You agree to maintain payments on this account in accordance with the payment arrangement detailed on this licence agreement.
  8. The council will not contact you to remind you to make payments, you take full responsibility to make the required payments to ensure the security of the licence agreement
  9. If you fail to maintain payments or your account falls into arrears, the council will terminate the licence agreement. You will receive at least one week's notice of this and will be required to remove all possessions from the garage and return the keys or further charges will apply.
  10. If your licence is terminated and you fail to remove items from the garage by the required date, the council will treat these items as abandoned and will dispose of them as it sees fit and you will be liable for the cost.
  11. You agree to inform the council if your contact details change at any time during the duration of this licence, and acknowledge that if you move, it may affect the rate at which you rent the garage from the council.
  12. You may end your licence agreement with the council at any time by contacting us and providing 4 weeks notice. You will be refunded any credit on your account at the time of ending within 28 days and will be liable for any associated arrears or additional charges as appropriate.
  13. The council may end this licence agreement for any reason, at any time but will give you at least one week's written notice prior to doing so.
  14. If your licence agreement is ended by either you or the council you must return the garage key to us and failing to return keys for the garage will result in further charges being added to the account which you will be liable for.
  15. If, upon inspection, the council identify damage to the garage that you have not notified them of during the course of your use, you will be charged the cost of any repair works
  16. Some of our garages are restricted for use of occupiers of certain designated premises only. We will tell you if this is the case and if it is and you subsequently move out of the designated address, then this licence will terminate on the date you move out.
  17. Your use of the garage is undertaken at your own risk entirely and therefore the council will not accept any liability for any damage or injury or loss suffered to any vehicle, person or item in the exercise of your right to use the garage.
  18. Garages are not guaranteed to be weatherproof or vermin proof. As such, if you choose to store anything in the garage this is done at your own risk, and it is advisable to obtain suitable insurance to cover such items. The council do not offer insurance for this purpose.
  19. No pressurised gas canisters or transportable containers holding oil, petrol or other flammable liquids may be stored within the garage under any circumstances. If these items are found, the council will advise that they be removed immediately. Failure to do so will result in the termination of the licence agreement.
  20. You agree that you will not assign or otherwise sublet use of the garage that is the subject of this agreement.

  22. Licence holders are obliged to abide by the terms set down in the policy as in line with the terms of agreement. The licensee understands Stevenage Borough Council will use their provided contact information, including email address, for the purposes of communication by the Garage Services team and marketing of council services, to enable the council to fulfil its public task of delivering Garage Services and other council services.
  23. The Licensee agrees to the contents documented within the Garage Management Policy.
  24. The Garages Service team will keep garage licensees informed on garage service related activities by sending licensees service updates and marketing emails about garages services and other council services, we consider may be of interest and enables the council to fulfil its public functions.
