Garage Enforcement Policy
Stevenage Borough Council’s Garage Enforcement Policy explains how we look after our garages and make sure they’re used fairly by everyone. The policy helps us manage unpaid rent, damaged garages, and situations where licence rules haven’t been followed.
If someone falls behind with their rent, we’ll always try to work with them first. Our team may offer a payment plan or support to help get the account back on track. But if payments aren’t made or rules are repeatedly broken, we may need to take further action, such as ending the garage agreement or recovering the garage.
The policy also covers what happens if a garage is damaged, how we deal with repair costs, and what steps we take when garages become empty.
Everything we do follows the law and our commitment to treat people fairly and respectfully. We make sure that garages are safe, secure, and available for residents who need them most.
This policy helps us keep things clear and consistent for everyone and ensures that our garages remain a well-managed and valuable part of the community.
