Exceptional Hardship Relief (EHR)

If you're receiving Council Tax Support and are struggling to pay your remaining Council Tax because of exceptional financial difficulties, you may be able to apply for Exceptional Hardship Relief (EHR).

EHR is an additional reduction in Council Tax that may be awarded in exceptional circumstances. It is intended to provide short-term help to residents facing financial hardship, such as a sudden change in circumstances, a personal crisis, or other unexpected difficulties.

Each application is considered individually, taking into account your personal and financial circumstances.

Who can apply?

You may be able to apply if you:

• receive Council Tax Support
• are experiencing exceptional financial hardship
• are unable to meet your Council Tax payments despite taking reasonable steps to manage your finances.

Complete the application form and provide any supporting evidence to help us assess your circumstances. We will consider your application and notify you of our decision as soon as possible.
