An improving market for commercial land

The current market for commercial land in Stevenage is improving. After a particularly difficult period, enquiries are increasing with interest from various organisations, with a particular focus in hi-tech manufacturing and aerospace sectors. These market characteristics have led to a land price growth from under £500,000 per hectare/£210,000 per acre in 1994 to current levels in excess of £1,235,500 per hectare/£600,000 per acre for prime industrial land.

The market for industrial premises is good with average rents of around £6 per sq ft, with prime industrial rents at approximately £7.50 per sq ft. Rentals for prime office accommodation both in and out of town are around £16 per sq ft, as at November 2009.

Stevenage has a range of quality accommodation for retailing, warehousing, manufacturing, offices and corporate headquarters. The quality of the Stevenage offer has attracted high profile companies such as GSK, MBDA, EADS Astrium, and Fujitsu.
