The Recycling Centre on Caxton Way is a free service provided by Hertfordshire County Council.
The Recycling Centre is provided for residents taking their own household waste and recycling (except hazardous waste) and will not accept waste from trade or business activities.
The Waste Aware website provides information on what you can recycle and queuing times.
In the winter (1 October - 31 March)
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday 10am - 6pm
In the summer (1 April - 30 September)
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 10am - 6pm
- Saturday 8am to 6pm
- Sunday 10am - 6pm
The Household Waste Recycling Centre is open on all bank holidays except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

N.B. If the site is closed during its advertised opening hours, it is most likely to be due to the servicing of a full container, which should take no longer than 20 minutes.
Van Permitting Scheme
If you are a site user who wishes to dispose of your household waste at the Household Waste and Recycling Centre using a van, pickup truck, commercial type vehicle or vehicle and trailer combination, you will need to apply for a van and trailer permit from Herts County Council.
