Community Projects
The contractors we work with contribute to a pot of money for Stevenage communities to bid for a share so that they can carry out community projects.
They also give their time to be involved in various community projects from cleaning up a pond to co-hosting a Macmillan cancer support coffee morning. They have made food donations, worked with Year 10 students in local schools, and employed local labour to work on various building projects.
The Breyer Group generously donated 13 hampers which were distributed to some of our deserving residents.
The Hill Group donated much needed supplies to the Foodshed.

When the Wates team responded to a request to fix a bench at Hampson Park the volunteers were very grateful.
A bench at Hampson park was repaired by Wates and is now looking good as new.
The MBDA site team completed a volunteering morning with the Stevenage Vineyard food bank where food donations were brought in or collected. There was a range of different items that were dropped off by the construction manager and social value lead, to a local collection point. The donations will be distributed across the community to assist those in need.
The site team with the support of contractors CLG and Harringtons were involved in the planting of flowers on site as part of World Bee Day. The team worked together to make planters by up-cycling old pallets creating vegetable and flower patches to support the bees with their essential role in keeping our planet healthy.
Residents of Norman Court along with Wates Group co-hosted a coffee morning for Macmillan cancer support and raised an amazing £470.
Over a hundred spring bulbs were planted at the Oval Community Centre, early January 2023 which produced a lovely colourful spring display.
Morgan Sindall visited Shephalbury Park Primary school to take pupils on a journey through the career and ambitions of one of their employees.
Wilmott Dixon worked in partnership with local schools to create a hub challenge. 30 young people, including pupils from Barclay and John Henry Newman schools were given the challenge to create a community hub which included designing, costing, planning and presenting the project.
A group of volunteers tackled the job of cleaning up Symonds Green pond. Weeds and industrial debris was removed and dams were created to slow the flow of silt from a nearby car park and the A1(M).
Some of our volunteer litter pickers went out and managed to fill over 15 bags with the rubbish they collected.
Stevenage Works and North Herts College combined to design and build two bug houses and a double planter with seat complete with compost.

Our contractor partners, Wilmott Dixon, Morgan Sindall, Mulalley and Wates all attended the Generation Stevenage event on 22 May 2024, showcasing options available in construction, to school children who are thinking about their future careers.
