Maintaining Public Land
There are opportunities for residents and community groups to be involved in maintaining or improving public land.
Licence to occupy
A licence to occupy is a short term agreement made between ourselves and residents or community groups. There is no cost to the licence, but we will ask you to take out appropriate insurance cover. You can cancel your licence at any time by giving one months’ notice.
When completing the application form, please remember to indicate on the map the area you wish to maintain. The application process can take between two and three months to complete.
We will need to carry out initial checks (with our colleagues and utility companies), to determine if the land can be licensed.
Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that permission will be granted. If there are any problems, we will contact you.
Please keep all shrub beds weed free and the grass cut regularly and speak to us if you would like to change the layout of the land or design new planting schemes.
You don’t need to worry about any of the trees as these remain our responsibility.
