Stevenage offers an exceptional environment for investment, combining significant housing and commercial growth opportunities with a strong, diverse business community. The town is delivering 7,600 new homes by 2031 and is home to world-renowned organisations including GlaxoSmithKline, Airbus Defence & Space and MBDA. Stevenage also hosts the £65 million European headquarters for Autolus Therapeutics, and there is over 2 million square feet of consented R&D and GMP space due to begin construction, including expansion of the GSK campus.

Located strategically within Hertfordshire, Stevenage benefits from excellent transport connectivity. London King’s Cross can be reached in 19 minutes, Canary Wharf in 38 minutes and Heathrow Airport in around 45 minutes—making journeys into central London faster than from several London boroughs. The town is also well connected to the wider UK, with direct rail services to Cambridge in under 40 minutes and to Edinburgh in just over four hours.

Proximity to the A1(M) provides strong regional road connections to destinations such as Cambridge (45 minutes), Heathrow (60 minutes) and Peterborough. Luton is located 15 miles to the west, while central London is approximately 30 miles to the south.

Major infrastructure improvements have been delivered in recent years. A fifth platform has opened at Stevenage railway station, enabling increased capacity and more frequent services to London and the southeast. The modern Stevenage Bus Interchange now links the station and bus services with accessible at-grade pedestrian routes. Parking has also been enhanced through a new 622-space multi-storey car park, which includes electric vehicle charging and secure cycle parking.

Stevenage supports sustainable travel through 45 kilometres of dedicated cycle routes. The introduction of an e-bike share scheme, run by Beryl bikes, provides additional travel choices to residents and connects the town centre to key employment locations, including Gunnels Wood Road. The introduction of urban artworks in some of the key underpasses throughout the town celebrate everything that the town has to offer – from green spaces to Women in Stevenage. More information on this element of the programme can be found on the Stevenage even better website.
