Local Plan - Holding Direction lifted

The Holding Direction on the Stevenage Borough Local Plan was lifted on 25 March 2019 by Rt. Hon James Brokenshire, Secretary of State for Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
13 November 2017
On Monday 13 November 2017, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government issued a direction under section 21a of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (inserted by section 145(5) of the Housing and Planning Act 2016) to Stevenage Borough Council not to take any step in connection with the adoption of the Core Strategy.
18 October 2017
The Inspector’s Report was received by the Borough Council on 18 October 2017. The Report concludes that with the Main Modifications proposed (as contained in the Appendix to the Report), the Stevenage Borough Local Plan can be considered sound and is therefore capable of adoption.

The responses to the main modifications are available to view on the Consultation Portal You can view the schedule of the main modification consultation responses in the Examination Documents (ED182).

Consultation on the Proposed Main Modifications started at 12 noon on Monday 12 June and ran until 12 noon on Monday 24 July 2017.

The Agendas for Stage 3 of the Hearing Sessions are published.
The Delivery and Monitoring session moved to Thursday 30 March at 2pm and the Closing Session took place immediately following the Delivery and Monitoring Session.

The Inspector added an additional question relating to Green Infrastructure to her Stage 2 Matters, Issues and Questions Matter 12, and because of this addition, the deadline for hearing statements for Matter 12 extended to 27 January.
