Stevenage Indoor Market to move to Park Place
As shopping habits continue to change, Stevenage Borough Council is reaffirming its commitment to supporting local businesses and preserving the unique character of the town centre. To enhance the shopping experience, the historic Stevenage Indoor Market will move to Boston House, Park Place later this year.
This more visible and accessible location will enable existing customers to continue to shop at the market, alongside huge potential to generate new business. The new indoor market at Park Place has been carefully designed to create a vibrant and welcoming space for both shoppers and traders. The bespoke market stalls are stylish and modern, the space will be light and bright with flexible stall layouts that showcase a diverse mix of local businesses. Every detail has been considered to enhance the shopping experience and create a lively, community-focused destination in the heart of the town. The works are being part-funded by the Stevenage Development Board through national government’s Towns Fund.
For over 50 years, Stevenage Indoor Market has been a valued asset to the town, offering a diverse range of local products at competitive prices. By relocating to Park Place, the market will continue to play a vital role in supporting small businesses and encouraging even more residents to shop local.
Councillor Loraine Rossati, Portfolio Holder for Economy, Skills and Transport at Stevenage Borough Council said:
“The indoor market has been at the heart of our community for decades, and this move will help it thrive.
"The current traders have been involved all the way through and our team has been working closely with them to minimise the impact on their trading. I’m really excited about the move and am looking forward to seeing the market settled in its new home – providing a modern and welcoming place for customers, with room for new businesses to move into the town.”
Supporting this transformation is a bold new market logo, chosen through a public vote. Almost 300 people took part in the vote, with the winning design capturing the energy and creativity of the space to be proudly displayed throughout the new market.
