Residents turned out in their thousands to enjoy Stevenage's much-loved annual fireworks display, bringing the community together for an evening of celebration, entertainment and spectacular fireworks.

The annual event, one of the biggest in Stevenage's calendar alongside Stevenage Day, was a highlight of the town's 80th anniversary celebrations. It once again provided a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to come together, enjoy themselves and make memories.

Stevenage Borough Council would like to thank everyone who joined us for the celebrations, as well as event sponsor Morgan Sindall for their support in helping make the free community event possible.

Events like these are an important part of what makes Stevenage special. They bring people together, celebrate our shared history and help create a strong sense of community. Providing a free, professionally organised fireworks display also offers a safer alternative to multiple private displays, helping reduce the risks and potential anti-social behaviour associated with fireworks being let off independently.

A huge amount of planning goes on behind the scenes to make sure events are delivered safely and responsibly. The council's Licensing Team and Trading Standards officers were also working collaboratively at the event, carrying out checks to ensure traders were operating legitimately, products being sold were safe and food vendors had the correct documentation in place.

These checks identified two traders who did not have the correct documentation in place and, as a result, they were asked to leave. The good news was that all products checked by Trading Standards met the required safety standards, helping give visitors peace of mind as they enjoyed the celebrations.

Cllr Myla Arceno, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Wellbeing, said:

"It's fantastic to see so many people coming together to enjoy an evening like this. Our fireworks display is one of those special events that brings generations together, gives families and friends the chance to make memories and reminds us what a wonderful community we have here in Stevenage.

"There's something really special about seeing people of all ages enjoying themselves, sharing in the excitement and celebrating our town together. Events like this are about more than just fireworks – they're about community spirit, feeling connected and showing what it means to love Stevenage.

"Thank you to everyone who came along, to Morgan Sindall for their support and to all the teams and partners who worked so hard behind the scenes to make it such a fantastic evening."
