As part of Stevenage Borough Council’s plans to welcome residents and visitors back to the town, Ark Farm Petting Zoo will be visiting Stevenage Town Square on 20 August, 10am – 4pm.

The Animal Crackers event offers an interactive and educational farm experience with a variety of animals, allowing visitors to see, touch and stroke the animals whilst learning about their behaviours and habitats.

Visitors can expect to encounter the likes of sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, geese, and donkeys, plus reptiles and birds of prey. Donkey rides, owl encounters, free face painting and sand art activities will also be available, helping to make the day even more memorable.

Cllr John Gardner, Executive Member for Environment and Regeneration at Stevenage Borough Council said:

“With the summer holidays in full swing, we know parents are on the lookout for free activities to keep their children entertained. Our Animal Crackers event is ideal for helping curious children learn more about the natural world around them by getting up close to some of their favourite animals.”

Stevenage Borough Council takes animal welfare at events very seriously. Before approval is given to an event that involves animals, strict vetting procedures are carried out to ensure suppliers have the correct licences. All suppliers have measures in place to ensure the animals’ needs are catered for and interaction between animals and visitors is closely monitored.

All Stevenage Borough Council organised events are delivered in line with the latest Covid-19 government guidance.
