Stevenage Borough Council is approaching completion on 15 new family homes, helping to provide more much-needed council rented housing for local residents.

The homes, located at Fairlands Gate in Stevenage, are part of a wider development by Keepmoat Homes delivering 57 new homes.

Once complete, the homes will be let as council housing, offering 15 families currently on the housing register the opportunity to move into high-quality, brand-new two-bedroom houses in a wonderful setting with great access to Fairlands Valley Park.

Jackie Hollywell, Cabinet Member for Housing, said:

“Providing good quality council housing is vital for supporting families across our town. These new homes at Fairlands Gate will give families a fantastic opportunity to settle into safe, secure homes where they can build their future and provide stability for their children.

“We know that families come in all shapes and sizes, which is why continuing to invest in a range of council homes across Stevenage is so important. Developments like this help us support residents on our housing waiting list and ensure more local people have access to affordable homes they can be proud of.”

The project forms part of the council’s ongoing work to increase the supply of social housing in Stevenage.

A wide range of different properties are also being delivered across the town, including at The Oval, where the council is leading a major regeneration project. The first phase includes a new independent living scheme featuring 91 apartments for residents aged over 60, helping to meet the housing needs of older people in the community, as well as a church and community centre.

By continuing to invest in new developments and partnerships, Stevenage Borough Council is working to ensure that more residents have access to affordable, high-quality homes across the town - delivering Stevenage homes for Stevenage people.
