Stevenage residents can find out all about what happens to their recycling on an open day at the Cavendish Road depot.

The Depot Open Day will be held on Saturday 17 May, running from 10am-1pm. Residents will be able to find out what happens to their waste and recycling after it’s collected, as well as more about the vehicles the council uses to run waste, cleansing and grounds maintenance services.

Officers will also be on hand to talk about how waste and recycling is managed at the depot, the council’s play areas, biodiversity in Stevenage, and environmental job opportunities within the council. Little ones will have the chance to sit in a refuse lorry, and there will also be children’s activities.

The event is free to attend. There’s no need to book, just turn up on the day.

Councillor Simon Speller, Cabinet Member for Environment, said:

“Our Depot Open Day is always a popular event, and with activities for children it’s a great event for the whole family.

“We know that lots of residents have questions about what happens to their recycling once it’s been collected by our crews, and this is the perfect chance to find out more.”
