Council Tax scams

We have had reports of several types of scams at the moment offering Council Tax Refunds, Council Tax Support Scheme, Payment Reductions, or where Urgent Payment is needed to be made via a different website and even one relating to a COVID-19 Council Tax Reduction.

Please be aware these are all scams/frauds. Generally these may ask you to provide your bank details or pay money, or log on to a website which is not the usual Council website, if in doubt please check the council website or contact us first.

We would remind our Customers for the continuing need to be cautious when receiving unsolicited calls, emails and correspondence, especially when customer finances are under pressure as you may be more vulnerable to these scams which are promising reductions, but could become a victim of crime.
