A summer of community, creativity, and fun
The summer is drawing to an end, and the chill of autumn is in the air.
What better time to look back and see how we’ve spent our packed events schedule in the hot summer sunshine together here in Stevenage. There’s been plenty of fun, frolics, friendly get-togethers and fresh air.
We hope you’ve enjoyed spending time together and making plenty of memories with friends and family at our free events this summer. It’s been great to see all the community getting involved, helping local businesses and supporting us - we just wanted to say THANK YOU!
Right from the word go, it has been non-stop since we kicked off the events in June with Stevenage Day and Armed Forces Day taking centre stage and bringing hundreds of people to the town. This years’ theme for Stevenage Day was STEM for the Future offering hands-on excitement across the STEM Village, as well as the audience-favourite Rock in the Park with live music stages, we could feel the love.
July and August really were jam-packed with the return of the popular summer screenings and movies – supporting the Lionesses to their nail-biting 3-1 win (on penalties) at the Euro 2025 Women’s Football. The beach arrived soon after, followed by Kid Zones and Barrio Fiesta.
Councillor Tom Plater, Portfolio Holder for Stronger Communities and Neighbourhoods said:
“There’s plenty of work happening behind the scenes to deliver a large event schedule for all of Stevenage to enjoy. It’s great to see everyone having fun with friends and family, while supporting our local community.
“We’re not finished yet and I cannot wait for the ever-popular fireworks and Christmas light switch-on events in the Stevenage Town Centre and the Old Town returning in November. I hope everyone is prepped for a fantastic end to the year.”
Stevenage International Day – 13 September, 11:30am – 4pm, Event Island
