A popular free event is returning to Peartree Park this August.

The skate event will take place on Wednesday 27 August, between 1-4pm. All wheels and ages are welcome, and there will be beginner pop-up skate ramps, as well as giveaways and activities. Driift will be providing skate equipment for people to use at the event.

The Deputy Mayor of Stevenage, Councillor Lloyd Briscoe, and Youth Mayor Charlotte Gregory will officially open the newly revamped skate park at the site. The council worked closely with local skaters, as well as a local wheeled sport business, to find out what they'd like to see at the park. The new site has been specifically designed to help beginners and young children improve their wheeled sports skills and grow in confidence.

New features include a pump track, a grind ledge and manual pad, as well as seating.

Councillor Rob Broom, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Climate Change, said:

"Last year’s event was very popular, and this year we have the added bonus of unveiling the new skate park, which we hope will be enjoyed by residents for years to come.

“So, get your skates on and bring a picnic (and skateboard!) and we will see you on Wednesday 27 August for an afternoon of fun.”
