Launched in March 2026 - The Stevenage Heart Trails are a fun and easy way to explore the town.

With over 27 miles of mainly traffic-free paths, the trails take you through different areas of Stevenage while showing off a wide range of public art and heritage. Along the way, you’ll find everything from well-known landmarks and art pieces to brand-new artworks and hidden gems.

The trails are designed for everyone to enjoy, whether you’re walking, using a wheelchair or cycling. They connect local neighbourhoods, parks and open spaces, making it simple to discover new places. Some of the artworks will already have plaques, so you can learn more about what they are and why they’re important. Other artworks will have plaques installed over the next few weeks.

What makes the Heart Trails special is the mix of old and new. Some artworks share the history of Stevenage, while others have been created more recently with help from the community. Together, they tell the story of the town and the people who live here.

The project is part of a wider plan to improve the town and make it a healthier, more enjoyable place to live. By linking art with safe, easy-to-use routes, the Heart Trails encourage people to get outside, stay active and feel more connected to their local area.

The project has been funded by the Stevenage Development Board through national government’s Towns Fund, of which Stevenage received £37.5m in March 2021.
