Bert Hills

The Athletics Stadium was opened in 2005. The stand is dedicated to the memory of Bert Hills.

Associated with Stevenage Athletics Club, later Stevenage and North Herts Athletics Club from 1967 onwards, Bert managed and coached teams of athletes young and old. Bert sat on the club's committee and served as club President, but his dream was to establish an all-weather track and he worked closely with the Borough Council in its successful bid for funding. Sadly Bert passed away before the track was opened for competition.
