Needles, syringes and drug-related items in public places

Sometimes, dangerous items like needles, syringes, or other drug-related objects are left in parks, streets, or near buildings. These can be harmful and should not be touched.

Why this matters

These items can carry germs or cause injuries. It’s not safe to handle them unless you’ve been trained.

What you should do

  • Do not touch or move them. If there is an immediate danger to you or other residents, you can make it safe by placing something like a box over it.
  • You can report it online so trained staff can remove it safely.

If you’re at school or nursery

If you see something like this at school or nursery during the day, go straight to a teacher or member of staff. They are trained to deal with it safely.
