How to Report Them

If you see a dead animal on a road or path, you can tell Hertfordshire County Council by filling in a form online. Report a dead animal to Herts County Council.

If the animal is on land looked after by the council, we will try to take it away within two working days.

If we find a dog or cat, we will attempt to take it to the nearest vet to check if it has a microchip. If it does, the vet will try to contact the owner.

We don’t take away animals from private land like gardens or farms.
