Below are links to individual Council and committee meetings, which include agendas, minutes of previous meetings and officer reports. You can also find information about dates of future meetings, and issues that are due to be discussed.

Meetings

Council

There are five Full Council meetings a year, held once every two months. All 39 Councillors meet together as the Council to agree Council Policy and set the Council Budget and debate major issues.

Executive

The Executive is responsible for most of the Council’s day-to-day decisions. The Executive meets once a month.

Joint Consultative Committee

The Joint Consultative Committee meets with Trades Union representatives when necessary to discuss issues relating to terms and conditions of employment.

Planning & Development Committee

The Planning and Development Committee consider all major applications. The majority of minor and householder applications are determined by the Head of Planning under powers delegated by the Council. The Committee also advise on Planning Policy.

Audit Committee

The Audit Committee is an advisory Committee of the Council and meets 5 times a year to consider audits that have taken place. The membership of this Committee includes 1 independent non-elected Member.

Overview & Scrutiny Committee

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee meets following a meeting of the Council’s Executive to consider those Executive decisions prior to them being implemented. The Committee also sits as a Select Committee to undertake scrutiny studies on corporate matters.

Community Select Committee

The Community Select Committee will determine a Scrutiny work programme to examine the spending, policies and administration of the Council’s front line community services.

Environment & Economy Select Committee

The Environment and Economy Select Committee will determine a Scrutiny work programme to examine the spending, policies and administration of the Council’s Environmental services and support to the economic wellbeing of the Town.

Licensing Committee

The Licensing Committee is responsible for the granting of Licences under the Licensing Act 2003.

General Purposes Committee

The General Purposes Committee is responsible for the granting of all Licences and the hearing of appeals (except Licenses under the 2003 Licensing Act).

Appointments Committee

The Appointments Committee meets as and when necessary for the appointment of Senior Officers at Chief Executive or Strategic Director level.

Statement of Accounts

The Statement of Accounts Committee meets once a year to approve the Statement of Accounts in accordance with the Account and Audit Regulations 2003.

Standards Committee

The Standards Committee assists Councillors to observe the Members’ Code of Conduct and monitors Members compliance with it.

Housing Development and Regeneration Executive Committee

This is a Committee of the Executive and focuses on the Council’s Housing Development and Regeneration Programmes.

Housing Management Advisory Board

The Housing Management Advisory Board (HMAB) is responsible for making decisions about housing services, budgets and how the council work with customers.

Joint Executive Revenues and Benefits Shared Service Committee

This is a Committee of the Executive and is joint with East Herts. District Council who are the Council’s partners in the provision of the Revenue and Benefits Service

Joint CCTV Committee

This is a Committee of the Executive and is joint with the three other district Councils in the Partnership that provides CCTV services.

Stevenage Development Board (formerly Stevenage Town Fund Board)

This is a meeting with all the Council’s partners to provide strategic leadership and to set out a Town Investment Plan with a clear vision, strategy and delivery proposals.

Commercialisation & Investment Executive Committee

This Committee of the Executive provides strategic direction to enable, oversee and support the development of co-operative commercial and insourcing programmes of work.
