Community Chest Fund 2021 is now open for bids

The Community Chest Fund is open once again, accepting bids for a share of £5,000 - listening to your innovative ideas to make Stevenage a better place to live and work.

The proposals put forward should improve the economic, social or environmental wellbeing of people in Stevenage and can be from the following groups:

  • Local community groups/clubs
  • Local charities
  • Local organisations
  • Residents within or operating within Stevenage

Last year, 3 winners of the Community Chest split the funding, these were:

  • The Green Space Volunteers group who meet weekly to maintain the town centre’s park gardens.
  • COVID the Cobra, a snake created out of painted rocks during the first lockdown, brought together all ages in the community as people added their own painted contributions.
  • Friends and Relatives of Trotts Hill (FROTH) - a charity that supports Trotts Hill primary and nursery school to buy much needed equipment and resources.

Councillor Jeannette Thomas, Executive Member for Housing, Health and Older People at Stevenage Borough Council said: “This is a great opportunity for local organisations and groups to bid for funding on a community project they’ve been planning or working on.

“There doesn’t have to be just one winner, the judges can split the grant however they see fit to back inspiring community led projects across our town.”

Applications will be assessed by a panel against a range of criteria. Bidding closes on Friday 31 December and we will let applicants know by Monday 31 January 2022 if they have been successful.
