Being helpful and supportive to others by volunteering, sponsoring, or taking part in neighbourhood groups can improve your own health and well-being as well as others.
Developing life skills
Stevenage Football Foundation's NCS (National Citizen Service) programme aims at developing the life skills of 15-17 year olds.
The NCS programme is structured in phases with the first phase being activities such as rock-climbing and abseiling. The last phase is a graduation ceremony.
Those taking part are encouraged to meet new people and develop skills in leadership, communication and their confidence. These skills are showcased in the Social Action Project phase of the programme where participants give back to the community.
