Greenhouse Gas Emissions
The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has requested that each local authority publishes its own greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and report locally on its own website.
The figures are calculated using guidance from Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
This approach to GHG reporting supports the localism agenda by ensuring local authorities are accountable to the local population for greenhouse gas emissions emitted by that authority.
We are required to identify activities in the organisation which are responsible for GHG emissions being released into the atmosphere. There is an obligation to make this information publicly available on our website. The Annual Report 2012/13 and the Summary of Greenhouse Gas Emissions 2012/13 set out carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions and provides year on year comparisons.
