We regularly collect commercial trade waste from local businesses.

We can provide refuse collections, clinical waste collections and dispose and remove one off loads or items.

We can also provide a range of containers and compactors for companies with large amounts of waste and issue sacks where bin storage may be a problem.

What we collect

We offer an assessed collection service where we will give you a price for the removal of rubble and any other large non-domestic items

We will not collect building rubble or hazardous waste. You can contact us about hazardous waste, such as asbestos and we can put you in touch with specialists.

Cost

Business Rates do not cover the removal of waste from business premises. Contact us for a competitive price.

Recycling

The commercial waste staff work very closely with the recycling officer. We can look at your waste stream and advise on recycling opportunities. We may be able to offer a recycling service that reduces your waste and collection costs whilst helping your company to stay green. For further details contact the commercial waste department.

Duty of care

The Duty of Care is a law which says that businesses must take all reasonable steps to keep waste safe. Waste must be stored safely and securely and must not cause pollution to people or the environment. The waste must be packaged in suitable containers so that it cannot fall out, blow away or escape from the receptacle. It must be secured against unauthorised removal as far as is reasonably practical. Security should be sufficient to prevent the breaking open of containers and removal of waste by vandals, thieves, animals, accident or weather.

Businesses must ensure that the person removing the waste is either from a local authority or a licensed waste collection company. They will be authorised to remove waste, transport it and dispose of it safely. The business must provide a written description of the waste to the person who removes it. This is known as a waste transfer note and must be completed by both persons involved in the transfer.

Special trade collections

We can provide advice on how to dispose of waste (including details of local organisations who offer waste collection services). We can also arrange for special collections of large amounts of waste or bulky materials from commercial premises for a fee.
