Domestic bins
The Council is responsible for the collection and disposal of household refuse. This is a vital service that makes the area a healthy, safe and clean place to live.
Garden waste
A Garden Waste Collection Service is offered to all houses in Stevenage. Residents of flats who maintain their own gardens can also arrange to take part in the scheme by contacting the Council

Household collection - recycling
The Council provides a weekly kerbside collection service for recycling paper, glass and cans.
Household collection - waste
The Council provides a regular (usually weekly) collection of household rubbish from all residential premises within the authority boundaries.
Household special collections for large items
If you have a large item such as an piece of furniture you wish to dispose of, we offer the Special Collection for Large Items Service at a small charge.
Household waste - clinical waste
Collection and disposal of clinical waste as identified by Central Government in Safe Disposal of Clinical Waste (Health Services Advisory Committee 1999). This includes items such as surgical waste, used syringes, drugs and pharmaceuticals.
Municipal Waste Strategy
The Councils of Hertfordshire produced a Joint Municipal Waste Strategy during 2002, which aims to reduce waste produced in the County, increase recycling and composting and provide the best possible disposal options for remaining waste.

The household Waste Recycling Centre on Caxton Way is a free service provided by Hertfordshire County Council.
