Concessionary fares for disabled people
Bus permits for disabled persons are available to local citizens if they are physically disabled, have a learning difficulty or would be refused a driving licence under section 92 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
Applying for a bus permit
Customers who are applying for a Disabled Persons Travel Permit need to complete an application form and also obtain their doctors’ signature on a Certificate for Disabled Persons. These may both be obtained from the Customer Service Centre either in person or by telephoning 01438 242242. Alternatively they may be downloaded here.
The Customer Service Centre is situated on the ground floor of Daneshill House. The Centre is open Monday – Friday between 8.30am and 5.30pm.
First time applicants are required to produce the items listed below:
- The completed application form and signed Certificate for Disabled Persons
- Evidence of residency in the borough of Stevenage
- Two passport size photographs, which must be a good likeness of the applicant.
Companions
Companions may accompany a permit holder (as per the doctors certification). Where this is permitted, the letter 'C' will appear in the top right hand corner of the permit.
