Home Start Stevenage
This local charity supports people from Stevenage who have at least one child under five, who are going through a difficult time, or finding it hard to cope with everyday life for a range of reasons, such as:
- Multiple Births
- Ill Health
- Disabilities
- Bereavement
- Domestic Violence
- Relationship difficulties
- Post natal illness or depression.
Home Start offer volunteer visits to your home for a few hours a week. The volunteers are parents themselves and have received training in how to help in all manner of circumstances.
Groups
Home-Start Stevenage also run a number of groups:
- Family Group provides an opportunity for parents and children to play together and share their experiences with other parents, staff and volunteers.
- Parents Group offers parents time to increase their skills and confidence through a structured programme facilitated by a member of staff while their children are cared for in a play session run by staff and volunteers.
Who can refer families?
Families are usually referred by either their health visitor or social worker, but can be referred by any other health professional, child’s school or the family themselves. The service is completely confidential.
