Children and Young People

What to do if you are a child or young person being bullied.

If you are suffering bullying at school then you are a victim. The people who are bullying you are wrong, and you shouldn’t be suffering that sort of behaviour. The same rules apply to children and young people as apply to adults.

The most important thing to remember is…….

www.bullying.co.uk is a good web site which will give you plenty of helpful advice.

If the person who is bullying you has hit you, hurt you, stolen things which are yours or damaged things belonging to you, then they have broken the law.

If you are in danger of being attacked then call 999 without delay.

If you are a parent and you think your child is being bullied, then try and get them to talk to you and explain what is happening and if possible who is responsible. Make notes about what has happened, and who was involved. All schools now take a very high profile stance against bullying and consider it totally unacceptable. If you speak to your child’s class teacher or headmaster they will take your concerns very seriously and try to sort the matter out.

Bullying is something which no school in Stevenage will tolerate. They all promote a zero tolerance attitude to bullying.
