Following the success of similar events in other parts of Stevenage, St. Nicholas and Martins Wood are having their own Street Meet on Saturday 11 March, 10.00am – 14.00pm, Canterbury way shops.
Councillors, community development officers, the police and youth workers will be in the area so that local residents can drop by and discuss their issues with the professionals.
The team will be:
- Encouraging residents to report crime and anti-social behaviour
- Speaking about the benefits of setting up a Neighbourhood Watch group
- Highlighting some of the services available to residents locally such as sports activities for young people.
Executive Councillor for Community Safety, Bob Clark said: “It is important to have a visible presence in the community so that people know where to turn to with their problems. This is just one of our initiatives to continue to keep Stevenage one of the safest places in the country.”
