Stevenage has got plenty to celebrate this year. Two major events on the town’s calendar are Stevenage’s recent selection to represent the Anglia region in the Britain in Bloom finals and the New Town’s 60th anniversary.

The town’s Britain in Bloom activity has been going from strength to strength in the past few months with residents, community groups and businesses forging ahead with our entry for the national competition.

Stevenage was chosen to represent the region following our success in the annual Anglia in Bloom competition. This ongoing success is as a result of the high quality of the environment, including fabulous floral displays, landscaping, cleanliness, recycling and conservation projects supported by all sectors of the Stevenage community.

Once again Stevenage Borough Council’s grounds maintenance department have put on a series of stunning floral displays around the town.

One particularly eye-catching display, which has brightened up the verge next to the Icon building on the Tesco roundabout, is the carpet-bedding scheme celebrating the New Town’s 60th anniversary.

The display is made up of 7,000 individual plants and features a giant 60th Anniversary logo.
