Switch-on to a White Christmas in Stevenage

The Christmas Lights Switch-on party kicks off in the town square at 4pm.  Chiltern Radio Breakfast presenters Gaz and Babs will introduce a fantastic line-up of entertainment, games and competitions on the roadshow stage, including a sneak preview of the Stevenage Christmas pantomime, Jack in the Beanstalk.

On offer, face painting in the Westgate Centre and ASDA between 4-8pm, funfair rides, free balloons, sweets and some great prizes, including a chance to win a Nintendo Wii!  Pick up a leaflet in town centre shops or grab a goody bag on the night!  Pop your entry in to the competition entry box at the Customer Services desk in ASDA between 10 and 24 November for your chance to win.

Santa and his Sleigh will travel through the town centre at 5.30pm with free sweets for everyone and at 6.30pm, Stevenage Mayor Designate Cllr Mrs Sue Myson will join Ben Nicholas (Stingray, Neighbours), David Spinx (Keith Miller, Eastenders) and the winner of our Switch-on competition on the roadshow stage to light up the town for Christmas.  Plus, a blanket of snow will cover the town square as the switch is flicked, so we can guarantee a traditional white Christmas for everyone!

The Stevenage Christmas Lights Switch-On marks the start of Thursday late night shopping in the town centre, with most major stores and the Westgate Centre open until 8pm.  Visit www.stevenage-town-centre.co.uk/shopdirectory for individual store opening times. 

Christmas in Stevenage, in association with ASDA, will be bringing plenty of festive fun to the town centre right through December, with Christmas street entertainment, carol singing, Father Christmas and an opportunity to win some early Christmas treats with Stevenage's "Great Christmas Giveaway".  Look out for details in the local press, tune in to Chiltern Radio or pick up a leaflet in town centre stores for your chance to win some fabulous gifts!
