General Information
A Local Area Agreement is a three-year agreement that sets out the priorities for a local area.
They are designed to improve the delivery of public services by brining organisations together.
Hertfordshire LAA was signed off in March 2006 and rolled out on 1st April 2006. It has a total of 97 targets.
Thirty-three of the ninety-seven targets in Hertfordshire’s LAA are ‘stretch targets’. This means these are targets that are particularly demanding, but if they are met by the end of the three years there is the potential to bring in an extra £30m to Hertfordshire in reward money.
Local Area Agreements are structured around 4 themes, Economic Development and Enterprise, Safer Stronger Communities, healthier Communities and Older People and Children and Young People.
Stevenage Borough Council has a particularly prominent and important role in the LAA as Peter Ollis, the Chief Executive, is leading the Safer and Stronger Communities Block.
