Economic Development and Enterprise
The economic development and enterprise block of the Local Area Agreement is lead by Hertfordshire County Council. It also has some special importance to Stevenage as two of the targets are specific to Stevenage.
The Block has 1 outcome ‘To provide opportunities for every individual to participate in the success of Hertfordshire's economy, by enabling them to compete in the labour market’ and all 16 Targets contribute towards this. Within the 16 targets 7 are Stretch targets.
The targets Specific to Stevenage are:
- Increase in Higher Education progression (including gap year) for 18 and 19 year olds in Stevenage from 21.9 to 25.9 by 2009
And
- Reduce the variation rates between the proportion of young people resident in Stevenage staying on in education or training post 16 after completion of year 11 in Hertfordshire schools from 2.2% to 1.1%.
