Community Safety Partnership
The Crime and Disorder Act made it a statutory requirement for a number of public sector organisations to work together in partnership to tackle crime, drugs and anti-social behaviour. In Stevenage, this is called the Stevenage Community Safety Partnership.
The Stevenage Community Safety Partnership’s vision is:
“To work together with the community to reduce the fear and levels of crime and anti-social behaviour. We will create a safer environment for all those who live, shop, travel and work in Stevenage.”
Stevenage Community Safety Partnership is a multi-agency partnership made up of the following responsible authorities:
- Stevenage Borough Council
- East and North Hertfordshire Primary Care Trust
- Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service
- Hertfordshire Police
- Hertfordshire Police Authority
This group is known as the Responsible Authorities Group (RAG).
Other key members of the partnership include Stevenage Homes, Hertfordshire County Council’s Crime and Drugs Strategy Unit and the Youth Service.
The RAG sets the strategic direction for the Stevenage Community Safety Partnership and is responsible for delivering the Stevenage Community Safety Partnership Plan by making decisions about activity, resource allocation and problem solving.
