Municipal waste strategy

The Councils of Hertfordshire produced a Joint Municipal Waste Strategy during 2002, which aims to reduce waste produced in the County, increase recycling and composting and provide the best possible disposal options for remaining waste.

The strategy covers the period to 2024 and is currently undergoing an interim review.

In the strategy, a voluntary target has been set to recycle or compost 50% of Hertfordshire’s domestic waste by 2012. This target is currently beyond government set targets for the County.

Information on the waste strategy is available on the WasteAware web site

Summary copies of the waste strategy are available from Lee Myers using contact details available on the right.
