Assisted Refuse Collection

An assisted refuse collection service is provided to residents who, through illness or infirmity, are unable to put out their refuse and do not have anyone else to assist them.

If you believe that no person in your household is able to put out refuse for collection because of serious illness or disability please contact us using the details on the right or fill in the online form.

Disposable Nappies

From 1 September 2014, Stevenage Borough Council will no longer be operating the disposable nappy collection service. We have therefore closed the service to new applications and all current users should have received a letter explaining what they need to do.

We have taken this difficult decision as part of the Council’s overall on-going savings exercise. Other Hertfordshire Councils do not offer such a dedicated collection service.

If you have children in disposable nappies these should be disposed of in your black refuse bin. Alternatively you might like to consider Real Nappies; these can save you around £600 and will help to reduce the amount you waste.  We are able to provide up to £50 as a reward for residents using real nappies. Please use the link on the right for more information.

Clinical Waste

Stevenage Borough Council offers a free clinical waste collection service for non-commercial waste. Examples of clinical waste include:

  • blood or other bodily fluids
  • excretions
  • drugs or other pharmaceutical products
  • swabs or dressings
  • syringes, needles or other sharp instruments

If you require a clinical waste collection please contact Customer Services on 01438 242323.
