Stevenage Town Centre
An update on the Town Centre Regeneration project
Stevenage Regeneration Ltd will shortly be submitting an amended planning application for the redevelopment of our town centre. You may remember that back in 2007 the developers submitted an application for an ambitious redevelopment of the area. As a result of the recession, these plans have been scaled down. It is good news that Stevenage Regeneration Ltd have not walked away from Stevenage, as many other town centres have experienced, but have instead adjusted the design to make it more deliverable and financially robust.
Stevenage Regeneration Ltd are showing their new plans, including an updated model, at a public exhibition at 1 Town Square (the former Edward the Confessor pub). This is open from 12.30 to 7pm on Friday 5 March and between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 6 March. You are invited to attend and view the plans and will have the opportunity to speak to the developer team about the proposals.
When will the new shops be ready?
While we are expecting the amended planning application at the beginning of March we could still be a couple of years away from the start of construction, and several more years away from completion.
Online plans will also be available on the developers’ website at www.stevenageregeneration.com
