Site Specific Policies
What are site specific policies?
Site specific policies identify sites or areas where the Council wants to encourage development, or preserve existing uses or features. This can range from the identification of new sites for housing to important open spaces that should be protected.
The Site Specific Policies DPD forms part of the Local Development Framework for Stevenage.
It is important to point out that this document does not cover the whole of the Borough. Separate plans are being produced for Gunnels Wood, the Old Town, the town centre and the new neighbourhoods to be built to the north and west of Stevenage. These will be subject to separate consultation.
What is a pre-submission consultation document?
Pre-submission is the final stage of public consultation. We publish the plan in what we think should be the final version. This includes our vision for the future of Stevenage as well as our detailed policy requirements. The pre-submission consultation will be available between 28th January and 11th March 2010. Previous consultations
We previously consulted on the Site Specific DPD in 2006 and 2008.
Regulation 25
In 2008, a Regulation 25 consultation document set out policies that we think need to be considered in planning for the future of Stevenage. A Sustainability Appraisal considered the social, economic and environmental effects of our proposals.

A summary of the comments we received to the Regulation 25 consultation will be available with the Pre-submission consultation documents.
Key Issues and Alternative Options
In 2006, we held a Key Issues and Alternative Options consultation which asked for your views on some of the main questions that will be dealt with in this document.
