Planning Applications

Information about obtaining planning advice and applying for planning permission and on current applications being considered by the Council, with the ability to view and comment on them.

  • Ordnance Survey Site Location Plans

    We can no longer offer the purchase of site location maps.

  • Do I need planning permission?

    Many house extensions, new buildings, certain alterations and changes in the uses of buildings and land need consent.

  • Development Constraints

    Information relating to flood risks, Conservation Areas, Listed Buildings, TPO's and restrictions on permitted development.

  • Pre-application advice

    The Council provides advice to prospective developers about whether planning permsission is required and on the merits of the proposed development itself.

    Information on how to apply for planning permission.

  • Planning application register

    The Council publishes information on a weekly basis about applications received

  • Full planning application forms

    Full planning application forms are required for all types of commercial developments, change of use of building(s) or land and residential developments of 1 or more dwellings.

  • Householder planning application forms

    Householder planning application forms are available for householder developments eg: conservatories, side or rear extensions, garden shed etc.

  • Planning application process

    There is a set process by which an application is assessed and a decision is reached.

  • View and comment on planning applications

    The Council publishes information about the applications that it receives, these are publised and available for comment by the public

  • Planning - register of decision notices

    The Council issues a formal decision notice in respect of every application, which states whether permission is granted with or without conditions or refused, together with the reasons for the decision.

  • Appeals

    Appealing against a planning decision.

  • Development Control Team

    Development Control is responsible for the determination of planning applications, and other associated applications (listed building consent, advertisement consent etc) submitted to the Council under the Planning Acts.

  • Telecommunications

    The Council is responsible for dealing with some proposals for telecommunications development, such as mobile phone masts.
