Exciting town centre plans coming soon

Early this year you’ll be able to see the plans for your new multi-million pound town centre.

Developers Stanhope and ING Real Estate Development are currently finishing the plans, in partnership with national regeneration agency English Partnerships and us.  

We will show the plans at a public exhibition to which the public and businesses will be invited.  You will be able to see these, ask questions and let us know what you think. 

We want as many of you as possible to see the plans, including residents, school children, community and voluntary workers, business people and transport users.

The plans include:

• A major new department store
• Around 50 new shops
• Cafes and restaurants
• New town centre homes
• Better transport links and more parking spaces
• A ‘Discovery Centre’ that will house a new museum and library.

Before April 2007 we expect to receive a planning application for the new scheme.  Details of the public exhibition will be publicised in the local press, and available on this web site soon.
