King George V Playing Fields

This attractive park is situated between the old town and the busy town centre.

The site has:

  • Football pitches
  • Cricket  pitches
  • Lawn Bowls 
  • Play Area - for toddlers, juniors and teenagers
  • Pavilion
  • Millennium Gardens
  • Parks Events

King George V Playing Fields plays host to a number of community activities and events throughout the year. Stevenage Day, held on the second Sunday in June, has been held in the Park every year since 1959 and regularly attracts 20,000 visitors.

Play area

The play area, located in front of the pavilion, was improved in 2010 and has a range of equipment suitable for toddlers, juniors and teens.

Play areas are inspected daily, litter bins are emptied and litter or broken glass removed.

Play equipment is inspected once a week to ensure that it is safe for continued use.

Getting to the park

By car
The park can be accessed from Sish Lane. The car park is at the main entrance.

On foot
Pedestrian access is possible from various points around the edge of the park through the surrounding residential areas of Sish Lane, Popple Way, Ditchmore Lane, the Town Centre and the Old Town.

Cycle access
A shared use cycle track and footpath on Fairlands Way runs adjacent to the southern boundary of the park. 

Public transport
All Stevenage bus services go the town centre.
