Play Areas - Improvements

Over the next few years Stevenage Borough Council will be investing almost £1.5 million to improve play areas across the town, making sure that they provide fun and exciting places for children and teenagers to enjoy. Larger sites, such as the main parks and bigger open spaces, will make provision for toddlers through to teenagers, while smaller sites will include equipment for younger children.

Work will include refurbishing existing sites and installing new equipment, with some sites benefitting from landscaping.

The timetable for delivery will be:

2017/18 Pin Green, Shephall, St Nicholas and Martins Wood
2018/19 Bedwell and Longmeadow
2019/20 Old Town and Roebuck
2020/21 Symonds Green and Manor
2021/22 Woodfield and Bandley Hill
2022/23 Chells

Consultation with local children and young people will contribute to the play area improvements.  As in previous years, they will be asked to choose their favourite 5 items of play equipment.  The most popular choices will be included in the brief that is sent out to play equipment companies so that we can deliver improvements that meet the needs of local youngsters.
