Now in its third year, the festival will feature a Family Fun Day on Sunday 18 August at Hampson Park Community Centre. The event aims to get children and families more excited about cycling, educate people about Stevenage's unique cycle network and promote overall health and well-being.

The Family Fun day, which will be opened at 12pm by Deputy Mayor Councillor Jim Brown and will include a number of activities such as - a kids learn to ride course; balance bike training; and a try-out zone for toddlers.

As well as family activities, there will also be rides suited to more experienced riders, with routes up to twenty-five miles long.

Cllr Richard Henry, Executive Member for Children, Young People and Leisure at Stevenage Borough Council said: "Cycling is a great way to stay fit and explore our town. The aim of this event is to promote cycling and its many health benefits and to attract families as well as cycling enthusiasts. A great feature of Stevenage is its cycle routes, and this is a fantastic way to invite everybody in the town to take part."

The rides will be hosted by qualified instructors from Stevenage Cycle Hub, Hertfordshire Cycling, British Cycling Breeze and Cycling UK. Many of the rides are free of charge but it is advisable to register online to avoid disappointment on the day.
