Festive fun in Stevenage this Christmas

13 Dec 2016

Christmas is fast approaching and Stevenage Borough Council has a range of festive activities for people of all ages to enjoy this holiday season.

Activities at our play centres in Pin Green, Bandley Hill and St Nicholas include party games, making paper plate calendars, and junk model snowmen. Stevenage residents who are aged five to 14 are welcome at the play centres, which open from 9am till 12.30pm and from 1.30pm till 5pm on Thursday 22 December and from 9am to 12pm on Friday 23 December. The play centres will also be open from 9am till 12.30pm and from 1.30pm till 5pm on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 January.

Families can get crafty and play games when the Town Centre Gardens hosts a Christmas event on Thursday 22 December from 12pm to 3pm. Visitors will be able to make Christmas crafts and play a variety of festive games as well as enjoy a hot chocolate and mince pie.

A Christmas Speciality Market is in the Town Square and Forum from Monday 12 December to Saturday 24 December. Stalls selling Christmas scarves, jumpers and decorations as well as products including jewellery, handbags and handmade leather will be open between 9am and 6pm.

Councillor Richard Henry, Executive Member for Children and Young People, said: “Getting into the Christmas spirit in Stevenage is easy this year as we’ve got something for everyone. Young people can take part in the festive activities at our play centres, there’s family fun at the Town Centre Gardens, and the speciality market has some great Christmas gifts on offer.”
