Don’t miss Stevenage’s Christmas Lights Switch On

11 Nov 2016

Get into the Christmas spirit at Stevenage Borough Council’s Christmas Lights Switch On in the town centre on Thursday 24 November.

On a bumper night of festive cheer, stores across the town centre will offer late-night shopping so people can avoid the last minute Christmas rush. Free car parking is also available from 3pm at St George’s Way multi-storey, Westgate multi-storey, Marshgate, and The Forum.

Former M People singer Heather Small headlines the spectacular show, which starts at 4pm when music and dance talent from across Stevenage – as well as the cast of this year’s Peter Pan pantomime at the Gordon Craig Theatre – take to a new in-the-round stage.

A fantastic fireworks display brings the show to a close after the lights are switched on at 6.30pm. Fairground rides and face painting are also on offer and people will be able to have their photos taken with their favourite mascots.

Councillor Richard Henry, Executive Member for Children, Young People and Leisure at Stevenage Borough Council, said: “Our Christmas Lights Switch On signals the start of the festive season so make sure you’re in the town centre on Thursday 24 November. We’ve got so much going on from music and dance to fireworks and late-night shopping – not forgetting a performance from Heather Small. You won’t want to miss it!”
